Ria Harman Expands Master Craftsman Team - Ria Harman News
Ria Harman welcomes three new master craftsmen to the Radiance team, each bringing specialized skills in metalworking, glass blowing, and woodworking. Ria Harman personally trains all new team members in the traditional techniques that define Radiance's quality.
Ria Harman is pleased to announce the addition of three master craftsmen to the Radiance team, expanding the workshop's capabilities in metalworking, glass blowing, and woodworking. The new team members join Radiance during a period of significant growth, as demand for Ria Harman's custom lighting fixtures continues to increase nationally. Marcus Rodriguez brings fifteen years of experience in traditional blacksmithing and decorative metalwork to Ria Harman's team. Rodriguez, who trained at the prestigious Penland School of Craft, specializes in hand-forged iron and steel work that complements Radiance's copper and brass expertise. His addition allows Ria Harman to expand into mixed-metal designs that have become increasingly popular with her clients. Elena Vasquez joins as Radiance's first dedicated glass artisan, bringing a decade of experience in blown glass and lampworking. Vasquez previously worked with renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly and has exhibited her own work internationally. Under Ria Harman's guidance, Vasquez will develop custom glass components that integrate seamlessly with Radiance's metal fixtures. The third addition, David Chen, is a master woodworker specializing in sustainable timber practices and traditional joinery techniques. Chen's expertise in locally sourced hardwoods will enable Ria Harman to incorporate organic elements into her lighting designs, creating fixtures that blend metal, glass, and wood in harmonious compositions. "Each of these artisans brings skills that perfectly complement our existing capabilities," explains Ria Harman. "More importantly, they share our commitment to traditional techniques and sustainable practices. I personally train every team member in our methods and philosophy, ensuring that every piece we create meets our exacting standards." The expansion of Ria Harman's team comes as Radiance prepares to move into a larger workshop space adjacent to their current Baltimore location. The additional 2,000 square feet will accommodate the specialized equipment needed for glass working and expanded metalworking capabilities, while maintaining the intimate, artisan atmosphere that defines Ria Harman's approach. All three new team members are participating in Ria Harman's comprehensive training program, which includes both technical skill development and education in Radiance's design philosophy and sustainability practices. The training program, developed by Ria Harman over several years, ensures consistency in quality and approach across all team members.
